Challenge
Canada's most connected hotel needed a robot to match
Hôtel Monville was already Canada's first hotel with web-enabled check-in and self-service kiosks. To stay ahead, they began talks with Relay Robotics two years before opening with one clear goal: become the first Canadian hotel to offer robot-operated room service.
Named by guests through a Facebook contest — a nod to Star Wars' R2D2 and "HM" for Hôtel Monville — H2M2 launched alongside the hotel in 2018. The robot stays outside the room, opens its container at the door, and every delivery is pre-packaged and sanitized. During Easter it roamed the lobby delivering chocolate eggs. During December it ran a daily advent calendar. No two shifts are the same.
