Relay Delivers Hugs & Smiles at Hotel EMC2, Chicago
Meet Leo and Cleo — the robot duo that turned room service into a guest experience worth coming back for.
About
Hotel EMC2, Autograph Collection
A 195-room boutique hotel in Chicago's upscale Streeterville neighborhood, EMC2 was built to celebrate the intersection of art and science. From Amazon Alexa in every room to a 12,000-book science library, the hotel was designed from the ground up to surprise and delight its tech-savvy, curious guests.
Challenge
A hotel this unique needed something extra
EMC2 was built for science and technology enthusiasts, those who enjoy Smart TVs, Tempur-Pedic beds and open-glass WetLab bars. Standard room service simply didn't fit the vision. The team wanted something that would genuinely surprise guests and become part of the experience itself.
When EMC2 opened in May 2017, Leo and Cleo were there from day one. The two Relay service robots handle around 400 deliveries per week — food, drinks, towels, sundries — straight to 195 guest rooms. They even serve #BOTShots from the hotel's BOT 24.7 menu. When guests rate them five stars, they do a little dance.
